NAME: THE UPSIDE OF LOCKDOWN

PROJECT TYPE: BOOK DESIGN

ROLE: DESIGNER

TOOLS USED: ILLUSTRATOR AND INDESIGN

YEAR: 2021

The Editors commissioned me to design an eye-catching cover (excuse the pun), highlighting the impact of COVID-19 on people in Wicklow. The illustration features an abstract but recognizable representation of the virus. The book contains stories of hope, community support, and healing while acknowledging the collective responsibility to protect one another. My aim was to create something bold, graphic, and full of symbolism.

PROJECT TYPE: SCHOOL YEARBOOK

ROLE: DESIGNER

TOOLS USED: ILLUSTRATOR AND INDESIGN & PHOTOSHOP

YEAR: 2021 & 2022

For two years in a row, I designed the school yearbook, collaborating with a team of parents to create new templates and compile all the images and information. A mammoth task! I took individual and group photographs of the children, capturing their fun moments together. The result was a vibrant, 64-page yearbook that made for an exciting and enjoyable read.

Due to GDPR laws, we cannot show any of the children so have either blurred out their images or substituted them with stock images instead within the templates shown.

ROLE: EDITORIAL DESIGNER

YEAR: 2006 & 2009

For several years, I worked as an Editorial Designer in various publishing houses, where my primary focus was on designing magazines. Working within these establishments allowed me to be part of small, dynamic teams dedicated to producing outstanding publications. Among the many magazines I contributed to were WMB, House & Home, Confetti, Prudence, and Irish Interiors, to name just a few.
